How we got engaged

It was Easter Sunday after church at St. John's. Brad said he'd left his mom's Easter card at home & I wanted to change clothes anyway, so we stopped back by the apartment. I came around the corner into the living-room & Brad dropped to one knee, shaking & sweating - completely unexpected. He had the ring-box in his hand & he said he loves me, he wants to spend the rest of his life with me & "will you marry me?"

I was so surprised! My hands flew to my face & all I could think was "this is really happening!" and "bless his precious heart, why is he so nervous?" and "I think I said "yes, of course!" And "I love you." We kissed & hugged and then I asked to see my ring - I hadn't even looked at it!

I had two requests: that I not see it coming (surprise me) & that I be wearing something cute! He satisfied both criteria.

Afterwards, we went to Brad's mom's house where my future mother-in-law, Elizabeth, where Uncle Robert, Aunt Nancy, Uncle Jim, Mimi, Grandad Bob, Rob, Molly, Hannah, Stan, & Jeff were all there for Easter brunch. Elizabeth opened a bottle of champagne she'd been saving & we had a toast.

We left brunch at Elizabeth's to share the news with my family at Southern Hills. Mom, Dewdad, Ann & JP were all there. From there, we met up with my dad, Paul, & continued the celebration.

The day was full of good news. On our way over to Brad's dad's house, my future father-in-law, Jack, we received a phone call from our realtor saying our offer on our first house had been accepted. It just seemed as if it was meant to be!  Anne was there, she had magically found  bottle of Champagne in Tulsa on Easter Sunday, and we celebrated the rest of the night there.
